Privacy / Coffs Coast Electrical
Privacy policy.
What we collect when you enquire or become a customer, what we do with it, who we share it with, and how to get it changed or deleted. Last updated 11 October 2026.
Who we are
This policy covers Coffs Coast Electrical Pty Ltd (ABN 57 662 209 047), trading as Coffs Coast Electrical (“we”, “us”). We design and install solar, battery and EV charging systems and do licensed electrical work for homes, farms and businesses. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
We only collect what we need to quote, install, support and stay in touch.
- Contact details: your name, phone number, email and suburb, and your address once we're quoting or installing.
- About your property and energy use: property type, what you're interested in, your bill range, single- or three-phase power, existing solar or batteries, your goals, timing and how you'd like to pay.
- Power bills: if you upload one, it includes your account details, supply address and usage. We use it only to size and price your system.
- To install and claim rebates: the owner's details and the system details that the federal small-scale rebate (STCs) and your electricity network require.
- Photos: photos of the installation, taken for quality and warranty records.
- How you found us: the page you sent the form from, the page you first landed on, the site that referred you, and ad campaign tags (for example, a Google Ads click ID). This tells us which advertising works.
- Website use: pages visited, device and browser, and roughly where you are (see Cookies, analytics and advertising below).
We don't ask for sensitive information. If you tell us something like that (for example, that someone at home relies on powered medical equipment), we use it only to plan the work safely.
How we collect it
- When you fill in the enquiry form on this website, call, email or message us.
- During a site visit, a quote and the installation.
- From someone who refers you. If you refer a friend, please make sure they're happy for us to contact them.
- Automatically, when you use this website.
You can ask a general question without giving your name. To quote or install, we need to know who you are and where the work is.
What we use it for
- Answering your enquiry, visiting your site and preparing a quote.
- Installing, connecting and commissioning your system, and claiming rebates on your behalf.
- Warranty, service, safety follow-ups and the one- and two-year inspections on commercial installs.
- Sending you news and offers, but only if you've agreed to receive them.
- Improving our website and advertising, and meeting our legal, licensing and accreditation obligations.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only where it's needed to do the work, or where the law requires it:
- Government and regulators: the Clean Energy Regulator, to create the STCs that reduce your system's price, and any state agency running a rebate or loan you apply for.
- Your electricity network and retailer: for grid connection approval and meter changes.
- Manufacturers and suppliers: to register warranties on panels, inverters and batteries.
- Finance: if you choose finance through Brighte, you apply with Brighte directly, and its own privacy policy applies.
- Our service providers: the companies that run our job and customer system (ServiceM8), deliver enquiry emails to us (Resend), send our internal alerts (Slack), host this website (Vercel), measure website use (Google Analytics) and measure our advertising (Google Ads). They may only use your information to provide that service to us.
- Professional advisers and authorities: our accountants, lawyers and insurers where needed, and anyone we're required to disclose to by law.
Information stored overseas
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia. ServiceM8, Resend, Slack, Vercel and Google may store or process data in the United States and other countries. We choose providers with recognised security and privacy standards, but overseas laws may not protect your information in the same way as Australian law.
Emails and messages
We send marketing emails and texts only to people who have agreed to receive them, and every one has an unsubscribe option. Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't stop messages we need to send about your quote, installation or warranty.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
This website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and show us which pages are useful. It tells us about traffic in general, not who you are.
We also use Google Ads. Its tag sets cookies so we can tell when someone who clicked one of our ads goes on to call us or send an enquiry, and Google may use it to show our ads to people who have visited this site. You can manage this in Google's My Ad Center.
If you arrive from one of our Google ads, the site remembers which ad for up to 90 days, so we know which ads bring in enquiries. This is a random Google identifier, not your personal details.
You can block cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works either way.
Keeping it secure
We keep personal information in access-controlled systems used only by our team. We keep installation and warranty records for as long as the warranty and the law require, and we delete or de-identify information we no longer need.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete what we don't need to keep. Contact us using the details below. We'll respond within 30 days and won't charge you for making a request.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your information, contact us using the details below. We'll look into it and respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
